Growing up Catholic, the Jesus story was pretty well woven into my reality. As I became an adult and never did go back to the church, I woke up to some harsh realities of this world and wondered why the church, espousing the Jesus values, didn't stand up stronger for human rights. So here is my plea. What better day to pray for justice now, than Good Friday.

Prisoners of conscience waste their desperate lonely lives away
Just like Jesus Christ, they’re tortured till their broken hearts’ demise
All across the globe, these silent deaths replay Good Friday’s tale
Revert I shall be, for all that’s past shall pass again today
What better day to pray for justice now than Good Friday?

Jesus lost his life for his love and belief he was god’s son
If he came again, what would our stinking CIA say?
How can Sunday save us when so many die this way?

Children carry guns. They shoot to kill in concrete jungle wars
Greedy like their gods and fathers who’ve left nothing more for them
Dying every day until love and compassion reign supreme
