There’s a medicine in the way the wind blows Medicine in the way There’s a medicine in the way the tide flows Medicine in the way There’s a medicine in the way we stumble Medicine in the way be humbled Medicine in the way we sing so Light up light up light up Let this fire warm up thy cold heart Let this fire made of all that’s fallen apart There’s a soul stealer Reaching for the land It’s a nuclear game going bad Oh mama ocean I feel your pain We need a magic potion To make it whole again Teach, Inspire, Be Real! Come and let it grow Teach, Inspire, Be Real Oh the people got to know, yea Teach, Inspire, Be Real Come and let it grow yea Teach, Inspire, Be Real

Maiden the Flower Mother the Fruit Grandmother is the seed In every elder lives a library Of knowledge and history So let them plant their seeds in you That you may be a wise one, too And if an elder takes a moment To share a tale or two Just listen closely for experience, The gift they give to you In every child lives in innocence Unbound before this world So let them live inside the magic Of imagination’s swirl And don’t you ever take advantage Of these open eyes on you Teach by example to respect all life And speak only love true In every mother-father-adult At the peak of sacred life We see a mountain goat of will To build the temple up on high So let the mothers-fathers-adults Find the sacred in their work To soon bear fruit and let it fall Fall to bless up all Maiden the Flower Mother the Fruit Grandmother is the seed Ripe and full and juicy and round Just like the goddess in springtime And my grateful tears fall to the sound Of the river wild and free

Wild is the Way And wild we shall stay Give to the living things Receive from the source of all life 17 years protecting the buffalo Original family of this land This tune is dedicated to the BFC For years of good work to keep the bison free They taught me Wild is the Way And wild we shall stay Give to the living things Receive from the source of all life Faith, hope and charity are the human duties Humbly walking this land we see beauty Creator gave us hands so we can do great things So we can lift a heavy burden Or lay a burden down Down on the ground where Wild is the Way And wild we shall stay Give to the living things Receive from the source of all life Wild is the Way And wild we shall stay Give to the living things Receive from the source of all life

Love and Revolution What would you say if you knew it all ended tomorrow? We don’t know How would you play If you knew it all ended tomorrow We don’t know But we know this sweet world Is not going to end Because it’s always returning to beginning again And tomorrow is one great mystery, my friend So let it be good right now Let it be good good and how Let it be love right now Let it be love love love love Love and revolution What if you knew that Your actions determined the outcome Of everything How would you play If your actions determined the outcome Of everything What if god stood before you With her hands on her hips And she said, “I’ll accept none But loving words from your lips” And she said, “Everything changes With conviction like this, I need you to be good right now I need you to be good good and how I need you to love right now I need you to be love love love love Love and revolution.”

Walls Fall Down My heart bursts through this tight-wound chest Now life and love my blood refresh My castle walls have fallen down And here sit I on sacred ground The living nature all around and none to miss the walls Walls fall down, thank god they always do Walls fall down And so I wander like the tide Here and there with songs I find To greet the unknown where I roam To meet the faces in their homes To share abundance where there’s lack Expecting only friendship back And none to miss the walls Walls fall down, thank god they always do Walls fall down, for centuries they stand then too Walls fall down, thank god they always do Walls fall down If folks come far to seek the light We can share it is alright What’s a life but reaching far To give and share of who we are Before young thieves are want to find Themselves in lack, our walls to climb Oh none to miss the walls Walls fall down, thank god they always do Walls fall down, for centuries they stand then, too Walls fall down, thank god they always do It takes a heart with wings to see that Walls alone can’t set us free Walls fall down Not one, no one, none, None to miss the walls Why high walls None to miss the walls

At Night You Fly with the birds of the dark Burning spark They tell me when you were so young You killed a woman Decades of life without parole’s Not kept you down Your poet’s pen carries your voice Across the land Makes of you a living man You’re not just a prisoner Your family’s just a memory in photographs You ran across the desert sand, Watched trains roar past Long gone, that innocence of youth You as a child Now all these letters that you write Your realness shines from solitude Through the night You’re not just a prisoner At night you fly with the birds of the dark Burning spark Northern Ireland, South Africa Guantanamo Sisters and brothers behind bars Anonymous In dark worlds of injustice and crime And razor wire When will humanity rejoice in human life In every soul as someone’s child You’re not just a prisoner, not just a prisoner No one can make the apple grow faster on the tree Johnny Cash still wears black till we’re all free At night you fly with the birds of the dark Burning spark

Forgiveness 03:50
Forgiveness I am older than the mountains Wider than the sea I am stronger than this bitter wind That’s blowing thru and spilling me I am truth seeking thru And I don’t need eyes to see I am born of flesh and fire From water to the air I am spirit into skin I am just barely fitting in Brown and tan, black and cream Mother’s milk, human need You are rain on this sullen field All exhausted from confrontation and unlearning and tribulation All virgin soil, come till me Plant the seeds of forgiveness deeply And rain, rain, rain Gentle rain, rain, rain Come and rain on my desire Let smoke rise from our touch We’ll go rising up to rebirth And circling down to mother earth In this life, in this spark In this hunger

Soul Window Warrior I could die today in peace But I want to live I wanna love you good woman, Wanna love this land I wanna savor the juice of life Like drops of gold And if I’m singing in your arms, I’m not afraid to grow old I wanna feel your love If I’m sinking in pain and Celebrate life all over again, My friend My soul window warrior, my friend My mirror, love traveler my friend We could dream here all our lives, But let’s go out and live Before the autumn leaves hit The ground, we got to ramble I wanna walk those ancient roads To understand I wanna sail those seas with you, My heart in your hands I wanna feel your love If I’m sinking in pain and Celebrate life all over again My friend My soul window warrior, my friend My mirror, love traveler my friend My soul window warrior, my friend My healer, love traveler, my friend All who wander all not lost, My friend

Stars 05:27
Stars Hokulele Come breathe in this light you are Come soak in the stars And remember Love lives everywhere Though it’s not always seen Sing that song of ages told and Wrap your words around me here Sing so soft because you are my Muse and whisper in my ear Let these words on Swiftly beating wings Fly on across the universe And land with love’s precision To uplift our hearts as one Hokulele Take your worries To the crystal stream Where rushing water breaks In rainbow waves To bathe your weary mind And heal you from inside We are a spiral within a spiral With no beginning and Never ending
10.
Sing Softly 01:47
Sing Softly To bring in the day Just be yourself No one can take this away from you Sing

Song of Time 06:37
Song of Time Jah guide I Jah spirit keep me strong Jah guide I Jah spirit give me strength and love What is this whole is the universe In my mind What is this break in the holy verse Of all time There’s a pattern in my mind I think it’s been there for all time It’s like a geometric prayer I can just barely sense it there Under the layers of illusion And all this colonized confusion It’s so perfect that I see you now You shimmering tree of life, I bow You holy one, you ancestor You song from where I still come from You sparkling wave to cure my heart Of violence that’s been a part Of human history’s poisoned dart Release this killing art And come back to the song of time Love love love love Ancient ones that fill my body Listen I to what you tell me Sing that song of time that’s written Only in a seed or cell Only in migration of a sand hill crane, A spiral shell Seeds that whisper, seeds that grow On sacred trees from masters sown Ancient ones, I sit beside you Silent in the fading light Pull the poison from my brothers, Sisters, lovers, human plight Take the anger and the blaming Take the shame that now lies slain Sing us on and feed the fire Healed up by the morning light Come back to the song of time By the morning light.

about

This 2016 release finds the folkgoddess sailing the high frequen-seas like never before. Teach, Inspire, Be Real comes with the song There's a Medicine and it sings into a possibility of all that comes our way potentially serving to help us be more savvy, more awake, more response-able, more alive, smarter, wiser, braver -- the difficult as well as the easy and lovely experiences. This music has its roots in Diane's songwriting on guitar and ukulele, inspired by grandmother circles and hillside wilderness listening sessions. Full of positivity, Diane's songs inspire young and old alike. Chicago event producer and teacher the Old Town School of Folk Music says her songs expose the hard truths of live, and then go one step further, showing us a future that is good. Full band arrangements and acoustic sounds fill the tracks with life and love. Acapella and simple arrangements here as well.
