World Awake

High Sierra morning and all we ever hoped for is the dawn We have to keep on One foot before the other, place it in the hands of the mother, Earth Oh, precious worth So we let go of the shore and let our fears recede into the night It's gonna be alright We are our own leaders now and No one else can tell us how to live, or what we can't give We are honoring the First Nations and Learning from the ancient ones of life Oh, precious life We are standing with the living trees, for salmon runs and healthy seas and peace, Oh, speaking peace Evolutionary breezes, scooping up the prayers we make Doorways open to other ways, and dragonfly say This could be a good time. All the men are pitching in, to raise the divine feminine in all We can't afford to stall All the village, teach the youth, to see the sacred and truth, and share All we need is here We release our praise and grief, and see the ancient world becoming new, it's all inside of you.

Meet me at the gathering place Share the air, share the space, that’s aloha Old friends and kids from school It’s Earth Day, and everybody’s so cool Different stokes for different folks Say, We’re all one, now the music’s begun That’s Aloha A local band is on the stage, neighbor kids bump and sway Then everybody takes a break in the waves Hitch a ride, or find your own way Meet me at the gathering place Share the air, share the space, that’s aloha I have to tell what’s hard to say, I have to feel safe and feel ok And I’m safe because you love me unconditionally And I’m safe because I love me unconditionally If I forget .... when I forget. No doubt, breathe in breathe out To dispell doubt, breathe in, breathe out That’s Aloha After sunset on the beach Fire spinners and the lovers retreat Roll around on the sand to the drum beat Sacred space, full of grace, just you and me Give thanks, in peace Come on baby, love me baby baby, Meet me at the gathering place Share the air, share the space, that’s aloha Ua mau ke ea o ka aina ika pono o Hawai’i

Last night it rained and rained and rained Like it hadn't rained in too long We'd prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed And prayed for rain I'd grown afraid, afraid afraid afraid afraid Id have to leave this wonderful place And I'd be gone, gone, gone like the deep blue skies And the star-filled nights of just ten years ago I'm afraid of this haze, in the sky and in the brains Of whoever's in those planes Some one explain, explain, explain So many questions remain. I'm gonna talk to the Tiki, and the Tiki's got a drum. We're taking it back to the first heartbeat, fir consciousness, First woman, first man, first child Taking it back to the strength emerging in the First separation of earth and sky, breath of life, Dark and light, first being, first waking There's a part of me that's always drumming the world awake There's a part of me that's always taking a long, slow breath of life There's a part of me that's always singing for the air and sky There's a part of me that's always praying for steady, gentle rain. Cause we're in a crisis of consciousness! We're taking it back, drumming it back, singing it back, talking it back! There's a part of me that's always learning the ways of aloha, Walking in step with the aina, walking in step with my mother, Father, my brother, sister, Grandmother, Grandfather, Walking in step with me uncles and my aunties Ohana, Ohana, aumakua, ohana Let's go down to the river and pray, Let's go down to the ocean and pray, Pray, for steady gentle rain Cause we're in a crisis of consciousness There's a part of me that's always drumming the world awake There's a part of me that's always taking a long, slow breath of life There's a part of me that's always swimming in the sacred pools There's a part of me that's always praying for steady, gentle rain. And singing back the sandalwood Praying steady I'm gonna talk to the Tiki and the Tiki's got a drum!

I am a river, soy un rio From the mountains, to the sea De las montanas, al mar Flowing day and night, I sing Fluiendo siempre, canto Agua clara traigo, clear water, I bring Regalando a las cosas vivas El rio nunca se contiene Giving, giving, a gift to the living things The river never holds back We're on a journey, estamos viajando Learning to love completely, Aprendiendo el amor total And we're dancing round the oak trees Bailando entorno a los robles Waking up in ecstasy, Despertarse in ecstasy Regalando a las cosas vivas El rio nunca se contiene Giving, giving, a gift to the living things The river never holds back

In these times, shadows falling around my head Taking nothing for granted now, looking furthur instead Letting go is the magical secret of Catching dreams that you need to live, Truly live in your skin One by one they fall, Lessons of the old world gone! Taking flight, astral travel to distant lands Inspiration to seek the love, only love in this life Spiral dance is the answer and Sacred plants invoke the dancers who Play the song brought for liberation Winding labyrinth, quest for freedom Sacred chant!

I walk the path of faith and trust, ever on By night and day, come what may By and flow, by friend or foe This much I know Deep seeds I sow I walk the path of faith and trust, see beauty in all By compassion's eye, by beginner's mind By simplicity, by divinity, by all I grow, Certainty I sow We are born, we birth/rebirth I've got skinned up knees from all my leaps of faith Sometimes I feel like I'm running a race. I'm holding the vision and seeking direction I don't have all the answers, so I pause, I pause for reflection Everything's changing, it's always rearranging Like earth moves through seasons and fruit trees drop leaves I'm like spider, I'm catching love in the webs that I weave I'm spinning and weaving, hiding and shining I'm loving and learning, my bold feathers flying There's a bridge I cross on as I let go of safety, Come back to my core, and just sit inside me. Slowly I've learned that it's just about sharing, My voice, my art, my ideas, my real caring To own my own gifts, to nurture and grow them To fearlessly share them, to sing them, bestow them It's not about perfection, or winning a race It's just to be me, with some style and grace To risk it all, and yet, risk nothing Birth myself into being Walk the path
